verifiedBinh Tien Organic Pepper Cooperative – Regenerating the Land, Elevating Vietnamese Pepper
Founded in 2017 in Nam Binh commune, Dak Song district, Binh Tien Organic Pepper Cooperative started with 45 members and 100 hectares of pepper. Today, the cooperative has grown to 68 members managing nearly 200 hectares of black, red, and white pepper. Additional crops include avocado, durian, black turmeric, and Bo Chinh ginseng.
Right from the start, Director Dong Xuan Lien steered the cooperative toward organic cultivation and sustainable farming practices. The cooperative’s pepper fields are now certified under VietGAP and organic standards, and their signature black pepper has achieved a 3-star OCOP rating. In 2021, Binh Tien’s pepper products were granted Geographical Indication (GI) status – the first for Dak Nong province and the 111th in Vietnam – marking a new chapter in building a reputable brand for Dak Nong pepper.
Driven by a mission to restore soil health and reduce chemical dependency, Binh Tien supports farmers in transitioning from conventional to organic farming. Despite initial challenges, members have seen strong plant recovery, improved soil conditions, and higher selling prices – up to 20–30% above market rates. Binh Tien is a living example of how collective action, local knowledge, and sustainable agriculture can regenerate ecosystems and uplift rural livelihoods.
