In July of 2026, VietFarm visited the Tuyen Muoi Long Coc Cooperative (TMLCC) to continue supporting the group implementing standards that will help get their agricultural products into markets. The Cooperative specializes in the production of tea, a long standing cultural practice passed down between generations. Elders of the community discussed that though processing the tea can be long and time-consuming, it is well worth the flavor.

While receiving a VietFarm certification is critical for transitioning into the global import market, especially in markets like the European Union which has significantly more stringent regulations on environmental impact from production, a sustainably conscious development process pushes TMLCC to meet production criteria without asking them to compromise on tradition. Instead, it centers traditional techniques in agricultural processing at scale while refining logistical steps for sorting products
Tea leaves are sorted based on age to refine their quality, then roasted in low-emission drums. While hand working the leaves in the sorting process helps release complex aromatics and oils, roasting softens the taste for drinking, producing the delicate flavor character of Tuyen Muoi tea.
The VietFarm framework harmonizes an ethical commitment to sustainable development while proving that people do not have to sacrifice their culture to enter international markets. Rather, building on traditional methods is what enhances their value the most. After a few sessions working with the Cooperative, the market value of Tuyen Muoi tea rose to 500,000 - 700,000 VND/kg, over 100x the upper bound price the cooperative previously sold the tea for.

What does this mean for the future of the cooperative?
Forming a cooperative allows members of the Tuyen Muoi community to pool resources and simplify the implementation of agricultural requirements. As a women-led, multi-generational cooperative, connecting community members and empowering younger generations to carry the mantle is fundamental to securing their economic future. As the VietFarm certification process continues, new doors will continue to open in international markets, improving their capacity to negotiate fair prices for the quality of their products instead of having to settle for minimal returns.
